After months of relentless effort and progress on multiple fronts, we’re thrilled to bring you some exciting updates on the Manchester Hyperloop project. The Hyperloop Manchester team have been diligently working to push the boundaries of transportation technology. The results of their recent endeavours have been truly remarkable.
One of the cornerstones of their approach is the “Test before build” philosophy. This has proven to be a resounding success. The team have successfully assembled a Maglev test jig, a critical component in evaluating passive and active magnetic levitation systems. While the passive assembly required some modifications to address minor issues, the active rig performed exceptionally well. In a preliminary test, the team achieved rotating motors and conducted data logging, providing valuable insights into the system’s functionality. Furthermore, the team conducted a test on levitation using an aluminium thin plate and weights to validate theoretical concepts. The 3D printed holder, coupled with Goudsmit UK Magnets, securely held the components in place. In turn, forming a seamless connection with the Maxon motor.
Hyperloop Manchester Society Update
Another notable achievement for the project was the overwhelming turnout for elections, both in terms of contestants vying for roles and enthusiastic participants. This enthusiastic response speaks volumes about the hard work and effort put forth by the Hyperloop Manchester society in fostering membership and cultivating a positive culture. It has been a primary goal for the team since the EHW 2022 to create an inclusive and vibrant community, and the substantial turnout during the elections is a testament to the success of their endeavours.
In addition to these milestones, the Hyperloop team have procured two 6-meter long track segments, a significant step forward in materialising their vision. The team have also successfully secured a dedicated working space, providing a conducive environment for ongoing research and development efforts. These achievements mark a turning point for the Manchester Hyperloop project and set the stage for accelerated progress.
While the Hyperloop Manchester team have achieved significant milestones, their journey is far from over. There are still numerous tests and experiments that lie ahead, each contributing to the refinement and advancement of their Hyperloop technology.
